I have a confession, Internet.

I forgot my wedding anniversary. Yes, yes, I did. I know, What the hell?!?

July 23 was our 16th Anniversary and I simply forgot the date. Now, before calling me a lameass, there was extraordinary circumstances afoot. The day before our anniversary, SuperHubby had major back surgery and I was a little concerned about him, not the date. My devotion should be acknowledged by the fact that I slept in those damn hospital chairs for two days, barely leaving his side. If that's not enduring love, I'm a little vague on the concept. Do you KNOW how miserable it is trying to sleep in those chairs? I still have a neck cramp.

So, I forgot. He didn't. Because he is that awesome. He arranged, before surgery, to have his mother deliver my anniversary present, that he got ahead of time, to me on the 23rd. When my mother-in-law handed me the package and my husband, in his drugged and pain-filled voice said Happy Anniversary from his hospital bed, my brain imploded. I can still feel bits of it jiggling around in my skull, because, I FORGOT! How does one make up for such epic anniversary failure, I ask you? Oh Internet, I tell you there is no making up for such a bad spousal moment. Because I know, I KNOW, I will be hearing about how I forgot our anniversary when he was recovering from back surgery, and that he made sure he didn't miss it by engaging in advanced planning, deep into our dotage.
