In those moments when avoiding housework becomes a game all its own, I get crafty.
Literally.
Last weekend I decided to make a mountain of homemade chocolate chip granola bars. I would show you scrumptious pictures of them, but alas, the only thing left are crumbs. They were good. Dense, chewy, yummy bars of granola goodness made right here in my kitchen. I'm still cleaning up bits of oats that went zinging out of the bowl when I turned the electric mixer on.
The best part was they were easy to make and so much healthier than the ones from the market. I might make them again this weekend. Because there is cleaning to do. So I must bake.
Besides the yummy granola bars, over the past few months I've been making other stuff. Pretty sparkly colorful stuff! I was finally able to get decent pictures of most of it so I could plaster them all over here and say Hey! HEY! Look at what I made!
I started making jewelry about three years ago. Finding time is, as usual, the hardest part as it takes hours to lay a design out, fiddle with it until I'm satisfied, put it together, decide it sucks and start all over again.
Some of the necklaces I made early on were just damn awful that I've ripped many of them apart. I think I've gotten a little better at the colors and styles. Maybe.
I'm thinking about starting an etsy shop. Because I have so much time on my hands to start something new.
While I go smack myself in the head, here are a few things in the jewelry box. Let me know what you think.
Hessonite garnet pendant & beads with copper spiral beads & toggle clasp
Faceted Labradorite square beads with chech glass, swarovski crystals, resin pendant, sterling silver chain (I love Labradorite, its a stone that flashes a rainbow of colors. the stones here flash similar turqouise blue as the other beads & pendants, but it's impossible to get on camera. i like to just move them back & forth in the sun to see those flashes of turqouise)
Amethyst center bead with rainbow flourite, swarovski crystals, glass teardrop beads & sterling silver toggle clasps
Faceted iolite & moonstone beads, swarovski crystal, silver toggle clasp. (i wish the color of the iolite had come through better. It's a dark denim blue.)

Those are wonderful! I like the one in the first picture the best; my favorite colors.
I like the last one. I'm a big fan of funky pendants. In fact, that's the only kind of jewelry I wear is big funky pendants. I'd buy one.
Those are really very pretty necklaces! I like the colors that you used.
I love the last one.
You did a great job as always.
oooh, nice work! My faves are the faceted Labradorite square and the one with the Peruvian Opal beads. The brass chain is cool, and oh, I like the first one too. I'm guessing it's fun to chill out and work on these...
You people are awesome. I'm a terrible commenter responder so thanks for the nice comments.
