chop chop

About a month ago, just prior to vacation, I decided I was waaaaayyy over do for a haircut. My bangs were just about tickling my nose, whatever style had been cut into my hair back in April had long disappeared. I'm sure it resembled more of a mop than a hairstyle, but that's what happens when you forget to schedule routine hair cuts and maybe, just maybe, manage 2 visits to the salon a year. Truly, my hair has never been a major priority, and I do pretend that weird obsession with perms back in the 80's never really happened, which reminds me that I should burn all photo's of those unfortunate attempts so there is no lingering evidence of my very bad personal style choices. We won't even talk about parachute pants and the wrist bandana's.

Seriously, don't even mention those.

I'm still getting comments from people about my choice of haircut, though. Which was pretty drastic as changes go. I went from a somewhat layered just past shoulder length style to short and choppy. Short and easy to deal with was my main request when I plopped my ass in the salon chair. And won't make me look like a man. My stylist decided to cut it in a super short pixie cut, I suppose is the best way to describe it. And it is freakin' easy to deal with in the morning. Rub dry, finger in some hair wax to accent the choppy style and out the door I go. I will never let my hair grow out again.

I would share photo's but since I'm the one behind the camera 99.99% of the time, there is little evidence. I prefer it that way.

Most people were shocked at the difference, and then continue to tell me how much they like the new cut, that it makes me look 10 years younger, how smart it looks, how flattering to my face.

These are all wonderful sentiments to hear, because hey! who doesn't like to hear how cool they look with a new hair cut.

But given the continued comments a two months later, I have to wonder how bad the previous look was that this change illicits such a reaction. But perhaps ignorance is bliss.

I'm awfully glad that I never subscribed to the perm-mania. Mainly because I have really thick hair and would likely resemble a cactus.

So my vote here is to put up a picture. Soon. I want to see proof of this cute haircut.

just being me said...

I love the new look. It suits you to a T.
