When the early morning awakening descends into WTF

For some odd reason I was awake at 3 am this morning. Not the eyes open, look at clock, realize the time and roll back to sleep awake at 3 am. This was the eyes popped open as if my caffeine rush had kicked in and needed to roll type of awake. I tried to ignore it, really. I readjusted my pillows, snuggled into the mattress, tucked the summer weight blanket around me and thought of three more blissful hours of sleep time. And proceeded to toss and turn, wide awake, for another hour and a half before I gave up and pulled my ass out of the bed in futility. I decided that a nice strong cuppa tea and some Internet time were just what was on my morning menu.

Tea pot on and dogs out the door as I booted up the PC. While that machine got itself warmed up, I visited the potty because that cup of tea I had before bed was knocking on my bladder walls looking for the way out. Once all of my requirements for some blog visiting was complete, I settled down to read and sip and opened Smart Bitches, Trashy Books to begin my day with some bitchery. One post in, hmm seems RWA is on the agenda for the Bitches. Missed that one but can't wait to read the ongoing adventures. What's that I hear? Ahhh, Dogs barking. They clearly want inside now that their morning business has been taken care of.

My hands reach down for the obligatory head and neck ruffling that the dogs and I enjoy as they waltz back through the door. And then the smell hits me, unknown critter crap. Seems the dogs had found and enjoyed rolling around in some sort of critter poo. I bet it was a groundhog, bent on revenge of the smelliest kind. Grumbling onscenities not so quietly, I did entertain the thought of shoving them back out the door and leaving the whole stinking mess for someone else to cleanup as today is a commute to NYC day and I wouldn't be home until very late. But then reality set in. They would still be stinky when I get home so both dogs got morning baths.

My peaceful expectations of an unexpectedly early morning were shot to shit. Literally.
